Shahd Essam

An architect who graduated from the German University in Cairo. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Architecture, she decided to pursue her passion for handcraft. In 2018 she went on to study jewelry design & making at the Design Studio by Azza Fahmy where she is currently instructing and teaching after completing her studies there in 2021. . To broaden her knowledge of techniques and feed her curiosity towards other various materials she also undertook a two-year traditional arts study program through the kings’s Foundation School for Traditional Arts (London) at Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Cairo which introduced her to new materials such as wood work, pottery and gypsum. Her studies their also enriched her knowledge of Islamic architecture and geometric networks. Mixing all of these traditional techniques and materials in her future work is her aspiration.
